 Many people don't know the history of how I started to DJ. I can remember back in Elementary school that I loved Fridays during 5th grade. We were allowed to bring records to school and we were allowed to play records at the end of the day. We had those old gray bulky record players and I can remember playing "You're the one that I Want" by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. So, at an early age I loved music and I was destined to do great things. I participated in Band during Jr. High and High School and played the Trumpet. To this day, I still enjoy playing the Trumpet during Church or playing Serenatas for Mother's Day. During my sophomore year in college, I pledged into a co-ed Business Fraternity named Alpha Kappa Psi. I attended a rush meeting where new members attended a party in Edinburg. There was a DJ playing for the party and I was intrigued. I had the opportunity to speak on the microphone, and I loved it. I started to say a joke or two and had those in attendance laughing. The following semester I was a full member and I advised the Fraternity NOT to hire a DJ and I would DJ the event. I started with cassettes, Radio Shack mixer, and pioneer home speakers. I did my first event for free but I loved doing it.  Many classmates would call me to come to DJ and I would show up and be the life of the party. One day, one of my Alpha Kappa Psi brothers asked if I could DJ for their family reunion. I played for them and the party was a success. I received my first paid gig in the fall of 1990 and DJ ART was born. We have been serving the Lower Rio Grande Valley ever since.
